May The Angels Be With You
That tragic evening of March 7, 1997 the normally peaceful and serene animal sanctuary called Noah's Ark had an unexpected and evil tragedy. This story just breaks my heart. I didn't know any of these innocent kitties personally, but having worked at a no-kill shelter myself for so many years now, I just can't even fathom something like this happening to any of our babies, several of whom have been with us for many years. Ever since hearing of that tragic night, the cats at our shelter are never left alone. Those 17 little souls who lost their lives so brutally and senselessly will remain forever in my thoughts and in my prayers.

What must have gone on is beyond comprehension --- "It's a nightmare," said David Sykes owner of the sanctuary. "I stood there picking up little animals we have cared for since they were kittens, and what they must have gone through is the thing that is killing me."
Sykes said the cats not injured in the attack were "hiding for their lives," and that several scattered during the intrusion and were still showing up at the shelter.
