Aretha And The Calico Sisfurs

Aretha and the calico girls came to live with me on the very day that they were born, on June 18, 2001.  If you have already clicked on my link entitled "Temporary Family", then you already know a little bit about them.  Just in case you haven't been there yet, I'll tell you their story again.

A friend of the rescue where I work brought in a very pregnant cat, a cute little orange tabby, who was really just a kitten herself.  He had rescued her from the pound mere minutes before she would be euthanized.  Within days she gave birth to two lovely calico kittens.

Being that we were so overrun with kittens at the time, my boss asked me to take them to my home and foster them until they were ready to be adopted.

To make a long story short, and for many reasons, ........I have decided to keep both Momma and babies.  Momma kitty has seizures and allergy's and I felt she was better off with me.  Momma's name is Aretha, and the calico girls are Tulip and Jasmine.  They are more than 3 months old now, and Momma has been spayed recently.  All are doing just fine.

The rest of this page is dedicated to the calico girls where you can watch them grow up and develop.  Many photos will document their journey to adulthood.  Anyway, I will turn it over to them and they can tell you about themselves.

Some Games We Love To Play

The Macaroni Games

Or....you could call it shell soccer because we find that the medium shells work best for this game.  Hi, we are Jasmine & Tulip, the calico sisfurs.  Our Mom Aretha, who was only a kitten herself when she gave birth to us, taught us this game.  Now that she's had her surgery so she won't have any more like us, she likes to play kitten games just like we do.  She plays with us all the time, she's more like a sister than a Mom really.  Anyway, the rules for shell soccer are pretty easy.  Find yourself some macaroni.  Make sure it's not cooked cause then it will stick to your paws YUK!!.  The macaroni should be easy to find, watch the humans when they're cooking.  Usually macaroni will be used towards the end of the pay cycle.  You can always tell the end of the pay cycle because there won't be as many cans of cat food in the cupboard.  Watch for this at feeding time.  Once you've located the macaroni, preferably shells, get to it any way you can during the night.  Tear open the package with your claws and have a ball!! Chase it all around the kitchen.  Be sure to get it under little foam padded rug in front of the sink.  The human will hate when she hears it crush under her feet in the morning, and it's fun to watch her pick it all up.  A warning though.....don't take out too many pieces because then you will force the human to get out the vacuum cleaner, and that's no fun at all.
