Just like Athena had said.......from up above, he could watch his family's every move, read his Mother's every thought.
He watched as she carried her favorite photo of him everywhere she went. He watched as she clutched the can that contained all that remained of his physical being.
He tried to shout out to her "Mom, it's not me in that can, I'm up here in Kitty Heaven, I'm fine, I'm having so much fun, and I feel so young again."
He saw his brother Andy, and his brother Shelby looking up towards the Heavens.
"Oh, hi Andy, hi Shelby", he cried out.
"They don't hear you silly", Athena said
This made him sad. He worried about his Mother, he knew she longed to nestle close to him again......to feel the warm vibration of his purr...to bury her face in the sweet softness of his fur.
"Lighten up, Gem", Athena told him, "You're in Heaven now, free of worry. God knows you did enough of that on Earth."
Athena was right, he had spent his first seven years worried. Worried that he would die in that alley in North Hollywood, cold and alone, then he'd worried that he'd die at the shelter, never knowing the comforts of a loving home and a family, but none of that had happened, and it was time to let go now. Quite suddenly then, he felt all the pain from his past leave his body, and from now on, he would only remember all the good things...because after all, he was in Heaven now.
He knew he needed to go to them. He felt the tugging at his heart that they had told him about, and he wanted to see them.
A
man on the street is pointing up to the sky.
"Look, An Angel!" he
yells.
Passersby laugh. "You fool, That is only a cloud".
How wonderful it would be to see angels where there are only clouds.
How sad it would be to see only clouds where there are angels.
