Once upon a time, about 10 years ago,  in the lovely seaside city of San Diego, a cute little long-haired black and white tuxedo kitten was born.  He was adopted by a nice young military couple who named him Whiskey.  When Whiskey was six months old,  the couple was transferred to Hawaii and felt they needed to get Whiskey a new home, and so they relinquished Whiskey to the human Dad's sister's boyfriend, John,  who lived in Los Angeles (who just so happened to be a roommate of me, Whiskey's current and forever Mom.)  Did you follow all of that?  ........And so the Smith FurGang Empire began.  Please join the FurGang for a chronological tour.

Hi, my name is Whiskey, the original founding member of the FurGang, and it was with me, about 10 years ago,  that the Empire which would one day become the Smith FurGang all began.  What I know about Mom could probably fill a book, but even if I could tell anyone about those personal moments, I never would.  Mom had always been a sort of a nomad.  The only thing that was constant in her life was me.  I will be the narrator throughout your tour of the Empire today.

She couldn't seem to settle in and find her niche in life.  She loved to paint, mostly cats, and when she met Mike, he convinced her and I to move with him to Nebraska where he was from.  He said she could pursue her artistic abilities there.  Well, she only stayed for nine months because she missed Los Angeles, and also for other reasons that we won't go into. So we left Mike behind,  and her and I came back by ourselves and started all over again, with nothing but a couple of carry-on bags.  She thought she'd send for all her things later....but eventually she decided that all she'd left behind were only material things anyway.  She still had me, and that was all that really mattered.

When we came back home to Los Angeles, Mom got a job at an animal shelter and would eventually become an animal technician after training at a vet hospital.  We got our own apartment right away and moved in with only our two carry-on bags.  The apartment sure was empty and I was all alone for the whole day and sometimes into the night.  I was very unhappy, so Mom decided that I needed my own pet, and so she brought in my brother Shelby.  I was so happy to have a companion and Shelby is a great guy.

I'm just so handsome and I know it.  I think I'm my Mom's favorite.

Hi, I'm Shelby.  I became part of the FurGang Empire about two weeks after Mom moved into the new apartment in Hollywood.   Mom found me in the trash of all places, very sick and cold.  It was early one morning when Mom found me and brought me to the shelter first and made me well.  It was touch and go for awhile, but about three weeks later I came to live with her and Whiskey.  It was Christmas Eve of the year 1996.  They guessed I was about 1 1/2 years old at the time.  And so I became a founding family member.  For a long time, it was just Me, Whiskey, and Mom.

A few months later, Mom tried to help out someone in trouble.  Rhonda needed a place for her furkids,  Andy and Farley.  Just temporary she said until she could get her life together.  So into our home came the two Taylor brothers.  Well, as you probably suspected, they never left and became founding members numbers three and four.

Hi, I'm Andy, the guy on the left.  I just love all my brofurs and sisfurs.  I'm the resident groomer.  I wash everyone whether they need it or not.

My, we do look handsome together.  We were shuffled around a lot before we found our Mom.  We were very happy to find a forever home with her.

Hi, I'm Farley, the guy on the right.  I'm nothing like my brother Andy.  I don't like anyone else in the house except for Mom.  I'm on her all the time, especially when she's on the computer I just won't leave her alone.  I like to reach out and grab her as she walks by, and I never let her pay bills in the breakfast nook.  I follow her because it's fun to watch her walking around frantically looking for a place to write.  She usually uses the wall.

UPDATE:  On September 27th, 2001, Fatty Liver Disease unexpectedly claimed Farley's life.  Farley was always seeking my attention.   I think he consciously chose to leave me on my birthday so I'll never be able to forget the anniversary of his death.
